玩游戏不堪婴儿哭泣 男子杀儿获刑27年

A Normandy man will spend the next 27 years in prison for killing his infant son for disturbing his video game.
Andrew Keith Johnston, 19, entered a best interest plea on Monday to charges of second degree murder for the death of his 1-month-old son William on Oct. 15 of last year.
Johnston had been charged with first degree murder, which could have brought either a life sentence, life without parole, or the death penalty.
Plea bargain
Under the terms of his plea agreement, he chose to take a sentence that was outside of the range for second degree murder, which could have been 15 to 25 years.
With his head bowed before Circuit Court Judge Robert Crigler, Johnston accepted the plea, saying little more but "yes" and "no" in answer to the judge’s questions.
Assistant district attorney Mike Randles stated that Johnston made a written statement that the 1-month-old was crying in his bassinet, and that he became irritated because the crying was interfering with his playing of video

"I came over to him, held him in my hands and squeezed him harder than what was intended," Johnston wrote. "I then took both of his legs and shook him with enough force to hurt him."
Medical treatment
Bedford County emergency personnel were called to the home following a call about the unresponsive infant and William was taken to Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma, since the facility was the closest.
The boy was unresponsive and suffering from hypothermia when he was admitted and was kept under observation for 36 hours.
However, the boy’s mother, Amanda Voss, noticed that the infant’s left eye was extremely dilated, and it was discovered by Dr. Clifford Seyler after a CT scan that William "was suffering severe hemorrhaging in his brain."
Investigation
William was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he died of his injuries on Oct. 22 after being removed from life support. Capt. Becky Hord of the sheriff’s department then began to investigate the case, speaking to hospital personnel in Tullahoma and Nashville as well as examining medical records.
An autopsy report stated that William died of "non-accidental trauma" and that the cause of death was homicide.
According to a report by Tullahoma police officer Tiffany Host, Voss told doctors at Harton that she had gone to the store for approximately 10 minutes, leaving Johnston alone with his son.

The father told hospital personnel that he put the baby in cold water in the shower for a few minutes in an attempt to wake him, the report stated.
